Academic Excellence In Key Urban Zip Codes
About The MIMS Institute

The purpose of The MIMS Institute is to:  Motivate Individual Minority Students

to prepare for and apply to America’s top universities. The MIMS Institute serves as a champion of
public education and promotes academic excellence in urban zip codes by:

  • Maintaining a routine presence from the black community at School Board meetings

  • Hosting fellowships for students and parents

  • Fishing for potential black and Hispanic applicants to America’s top national universities

  • Encouraging black and Hispanic students with strong reading skills to graduate with multiple
(6 or more) college-level, Advanced Placement classes

  • Gathering achievement data and reshaping it to reflect participation rates of students in
    targeted key urban Zip Codes

Our vision is that our parents and students will live in a zip code where leaders routinely discuss
indicators of academic excellence regarding minority students.
